Brisbane’s Holly Terrens has just released her new single and filmclip ‘Not The Same’. Please check it out below. I produced this track for Holly last year (Serotonin Productions) and we managed to find a good balance between her intricate piano playing, soaring vocals, the strings, flute and live band, and had a lot of fun along the way. Thanks must go to Daniel Hitzke, Dave Couper and Sam Vallen for performing on the track too.
A huge thanks must go to Damian Lang Director for the video, he did an amazing job pulling everything together and delivering just what we were after.
Julia and I have been working on this new EP for a large part of 2015 with a bunch of our friends and are very happy to share it all with you online now and at the Brisbane launch tomorrow at the Powerhouse.

I am very excited to announce the release of the new REICHELT album GLASS BOTTOM BOAT under my label HUMAN RECORDS. The new 10 track album will be released one track a month and the 1st single ‘The Taxidermy Has To Stop’ is out NOW. I had the pleasure of not only performing on this album with my best friend Luke Reichelt, but co-producing, co-mixing and co-mastering haha it with him along with Daniel Hitzke & Ian Peres.
If you don’t want to wait 10 months, the FULL physical album is available for purchase right now.
The new Reichelt album ‘Glass Bottom Boat’ is his 4th and has just been announced with the first single ‘The Taxidermy Has To Stop’ available now at reicheltmusic.com courtesy of indie Australian label Human Records.
Reichelt is an Australian solo artist, producer & multi-instrumentalist. He’s been writing, recording and performing fiercely original songs for over 10 years. Described as “quirky, eclectic and emotive” Reichelt’s music tugs at the heart, with hand-crafted arrangements and addictive melodies. His music is sometimes compared to The Cure, Bright Eyes and David Bowie.
The new record brings back the distinctive Reichelt distorted guitar and has tinges of punk rock flavour. The core of Reichelt’s music remains the same, with a strong focus on clever lyrics and soaring melodies. Laden with a wide variety of instruments from piano accordion to steel drum, rich with edgy guitars and synths and once again co-produced with long-time collaborator, Guy Cooper from Serotonin Productions.
‘The Taxidermy Has To Stop’ addresses lyrically, the inner resistance to change and musically is an up beat, new wave, punk tune. Mystical elements creep in with Wolfmother collaborator Ian Peres providing synth and drum support.
A new single from ‘Glass Bottom Boat’ will be released each month. If you can’t wait, you can also purchase the full physical CD (containing lyric booklet) from reicheltmusic.com. Live shows will be scheduled soon, but in the meantime sign up to the mailing list for a free copy of his previous epic album ‘Books on Tape’, live and music videos are also on his website.
All of Reichelt’s albums preceding ‘Glass Bottom Boat’ follow a theme of love found, love lost and everything between. His work consistently articulates complex feelings effortlessly and with lyrical wit. Hopeful and in despair, each album is a mixed bag of lollies. His career has taken him around Australia and Japan and won international song writing awards.

Holly Terrens releases new single “Once Upon A Time”
The prolifically talented Holly Terrens continues her busy 2015 with the release of her latest track, “Once Upon A Time”. Going back to a live-in-the-studio feel, she recorded the song with her session band at the Helensvale Cultural Centre studios, helmed by the renowned Gold Coast-based producer Guy Cooper. Flowing piano melodies, lush verses, and ominous buildups lead to dark, powerful choruses and back again, with a surprising rhythmic twist in the tail which embodies the essence of the lyrical theme of less-than-honest motivations within seemingly strong friendships, and how things can turn sour even at the slightest change of conditions. Terrens’ diverse approach to songwriting, and her crystalline, emotive vocal delivery shine through as always, and provide a hearty taste of what she is working on as she sets herself up to follow on from her acclaimed EP recording The Right Mistake (2011).
After a successful first touring run around the east coast of Australia over six dates in May 2015, alongside piano pop songwriting pal Phil Hancock, Terrens continues to build writing, recording and performing momentum. Continuing her strong friendship with Brisbane-based progressive rock titans Caligula’s Horse, she contributed piano and flute moments on the 9-minute epic “Dragonfly”, from the band’s upcoming album Bloom. Further studio collaboration with Guy Cooper, the brains behind Human Records and Serotonin Studios, has yielded strong material, and there are plans afoot for a film clip release before the year is out. The Holly Terrens band live line-up features two new faces: Josh Griffin (ex-Incredible Kicks) on drums, and Adrian Goleby (Irukandji; Arcane) on guitar, joined Terrens and bassist Dave Couper (Caligula’s Horse) for their first show, the “Once Upon A Time” single launch, at the Milk Factory (Brisbane) on September 10. Hot on the heels of that successful night, the concurrent Gold Coast single launch will take place at the Currumbin Creek Tavern on Friday September 18.
